An explosion in a building near Maskan Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal area on Wednesday has led to several injuries and at least three casualties. Local authorities have confirmed that at least three people have died and 16 others have been injured after the explosion.
Pictures posted by local media show chaotic scenes in the area, with an army of ambulances queued up near the site of the explosion. All injured and deceased individuals have been taken to a nearby hospital.
The nature of the blast has not yet been ascertained. However, police officers at the scene told the local media that it looks like a cylinder blast. However, they added that a bomb disposal squad has been called to further verify the cause of the explosion.
The blast reportedly occurred on the second floor of the building. Eyewitnesses who spoke to the local media said that windows of nearby buildings, as well as some vehicles, were damaged after the explosion.
The fresh explosion comes just a day after five people were wound when a bomb exploded at the entrance of a bus terminal near Shireen Jinnah Colony in Karachi.
